Move-In and Orientation

Student Move-in Process and Schedule

Move-in for residential students will be scheduled by Residence Life consistent with the following timeline.  Students’ timely completion of Salem’s Pre-Entry Screening and Safety Requirements is a condition of move-in.

For health and safety purposes, students who have been approved for the COVID-19 vaccine exemption or extension or any student who is not fully vaccinated by move-in, must present a negative COVID-19 test to Health Services at the time of move-in. Students must obtain their COVID-19 test no more than 72 hours prior to move-in. PCR or Antigen tests will be accepted. Students who test positive must not report to campus for move-in and must complete an isolation period per Salem and recommended CDC guidelines. Once the isolation period is complete, the student will be reassigned a move-in date.

At the time of move-in, students and their designated move-in helpers will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms and exposure by Health Services staff upon arriving on campus and prior to entry into the residence halls. Individuals who do not clear the screening process will be asked to leave campus and to coordinate with Residence Life for rescheduling their move-in date.

Students and their designated move-in helpers will be required to follow our COVID-19 Move-In Safety Guidelines and to contact Salem as directed prior to arriving on campus if they meet any of the Conditions Requiring Move-In Rescheduling.  Students and their designated helpers are required to sign the Move-In Safety Acknowledgement agreeing to abide by these guidelines as a condition of Residence Life confirming their move-in appointment.
