Due to winter weather, Salem Academy will open at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2018. See our Winter Storm Update page for details.
It is Easter and our students, faculty, and staff are on holiday. Last Friday, at assembly, Dr. Rio, our chaplain, talked about Easter and this season of renewal. Spring always makes us think of the world coming to life again after the cold, gray winter. Of course, when we look outside at the dogwood trees and the flowers, especially on this glorious campus, we have a real visual sense of the beautiful explosion of nature and the sense of rebirth that comes to the physical world around us.
My hope for all of us during this Easter holiday is to use the time as a period of renewal and freshness in our minds. We have a span of six weeks to the end of school, with very important things happening during that time - AP exams, finals, projects and papers and tests, graduation for seniors, and all of those end of the year fun events. It will be of benefit to each of us if we will approach all of these activities with a sense of spring renewal, a fresh start and a new look at what we want to accomplish. A renewal of energy and spirit will take us to the end of May with a positive outlook and approach to accomplish all of those important things that we must complete by the end of the school year.
I wish you all a lovely holiday with family and friends. If your daughters are remaining at Salem over the weekend, I trust that they will use their time for relaxation and a renewed commitment to their school work.
My best to each of you and good wishes for a relaxing and reinvigorating holiday.
