Program Director of MEd in Educational Leadership and Assistant/Associate Professor of Educational Leadership

Salem Academy and College, the oldest continuously operating educational institution for girls and women in the country by its founding date of 1772, invites applications for Program Director of MEd in Educational Leadership and Assistant/Associate Professor of Educational Leadership.

Position Summary:

The Program Director of MEd in Educational Leadership and Assistant/Associate Professor of Educational Leadership is a faculty position coordinating and teaching in the MEd in Educational Leadership program, a state-approved program leading to North Carolina principal licensure. The Program Director of MEd in Educational Leadership and Assistant/Associate Professor of Educational Leadership reports to the Dean of Graduate and Professional Studies and Director of Teacher Education and Graduate Studies in Education. This is a 12-month position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct the online Master of Education in Educational Leadership program
    • Oversee program curriculum
    • Supervise adjunct instructors
    • Manage program assessment
    • Coordinate internships
    • Plan and implement on-campus residency events
    • Recruit potential students
  • Teach in the MEd in Educational Leadership program
  • Advise education students
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support the goals and needs of the educator preparation programs
  • Teach in other educator preparation programs as needed
     

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD or EdD in Educational Leadership or closely related field
  • Administrative experience in P-12 setting
  • Ability to establish P-12 partnerships
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, organize, and execute multiple tasks

Preferred Qualifications:

  • State-level administrative licensure
  • College teaching experience
  • Experience teaching online

Physical Functions:

While performing the responsibilities of the Educational Leadership Faculty, the employee is required to sit for varying lengths of time; bend, reach, lift, push, and pull up to 25 pounds; occasionally stand, walk, and kneel and regularly ascend/descend stairs; use hands and fingers to handle or feel and manipulate keys on a keyboard; perform extended periods of work at a computer workstation, view a computer monitor; perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and receive detailed information through oral communication; express and exchange ideas by means of spoken word; and work in an office setting.
