Open-Rank Professor of Leadership and Leadership Program Director

Salem College's professor of leadership will partner with leaders in the Academy and College and will design and deliver world-class leadership development programs in support of the institution’s health leadership focus. This position calls for a leader who has the experience, drive, and ambition to further grow our leadership development curricular and co-curricular experiences with the passion, commitment, and strategic mindset to truly engage with students and provide meaningful results. The position will also fuse academic and student affairs and be responsible for creating and developing leadership instruction modules, student leadership workshops, community partnerships, and speaker series. The Leadership Director would have a faculty appointment (open rank) and teaching responsibilities at Salem College.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for coordinating the four-year leadership development curricula for the College, as well as related co-curricular programming.
  • Collaborate with the Academy Director of Curriculum & Instruction to incorporate Leadership into the Academy's curriculum (IC4 Programming)
  • Collaborate with the Director of General Education to integrate leadership into the College core curriculum (Salem Impact)
  • Teach College courses as part of the Leadership Studies program
  • Deliver curricular and co-curricular leadership development programs for College and Academy students that will include engagement, program facilitation, coaching, and relationship management.
  • Design leadership development curriculum and high impact instructional design materials, to include syllabi, learning modules, assignments, etc.
  • Provide initiative, leadership, and vision in the planning, development, and implementation of Salem’s leadership development strategy and objectives.
  • Lead the development, organization, and assessment of student learning outcomes and related activities to support planning activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree or appropriate terminal degree in a related field
  • Three years of progressively responsible leadership development experience
  • Teaching experience in relevant fields
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong relationship and project management skills
  • Proficient in coaching and developing others

Preferred Qualifications

  • Program development experience at the high school and/or collegiate level
  • Proven knowledge of leadership development, assessment trends, and best practices for designing high-impact programs in educational settings.
