Salem Academy and College, the oldest continuously operating educational institution for girls and women in the country by its founding date of 1772, invites applications for a full-time, open-rank faculty position in Healthcare Administration. The faculty member would join the chair of the Business Administration department in program and curriculum development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in creating undergraduate and graduate curricula that will facilitate Salem College’s Health Leadership transformation.
  • Teach a variety of undergraduate courses in the areas of public health, healthcare policy, health economics, healthcare finance, supply chain management, operations management, and health information management systems.
  • Lead curricular development of a Master of Healthcare Administration program.
  • Assist in recruitment of graduate students.
  • Pursue a scholarly agenda with publications; to participate actively in professional societies; and to be current in the broader fields of healthcare administration.
  • Support the Department of Business Administration in creating a vibrant center of student engagement.
  • Commitment to service to the Department and College.
  • Advising and mentoring students.
  • Assist in building community partnerships, engage in program assessment/accreditation processes, and create opportunities for student-faculty collaborative research/service opportunities.

Required Qualifications

  • Applicants must have earned a doctorate or appropriate terminal degree in healthcare administration or a related field. 
  • Healthcare industry experience (private sector or public sector) is also desired.
  • Ability to establish business and community partnerships.
  • Experience with curricular development is preferred.
  • Ability to establish business and community partnerships.
  • Ability to teach one or more of the following topics: health care organizations and systems, health care technology, management and leadership of health care organizations, health economics, health equity, or health policy.
