After a sixteen year career in interior design, and high end furniture design and marketing, this Winston-Salem native, foresaw a declining furniture industry, earned an A.A.S. as a Paralegal, and went to work for Wachovia as a paralegal in human resources. When her short-lived second career ended with the 2002 merger of Wachovia and First Union, Kathy used the interruption to travel to Sweden, Denmark, and France before joining Salem Academy as the administrative assistant to the head of school, in July 2002. Kathy’s pursuit of learning throughout life, and Moravian heritage made Salem Academy a natural fit for her to use her mixture of skills. Kathy continues to pursue her interests in history, art, languages, and research, both independently, and as a continuing education student at Salem College. She enjoys reading, creative cooking, gardening, photography, visiting museums and art galleries, and biking and traveling with her husband.
