Betsy Boyd grew up in Charlotte and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in Elementary Education and English. After teaching elementary school for several years, she went on to earn her master of arts in English from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She taught English composition courses at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Central Piedmont Community College, and Virginia Western Community College before moving to Winston-Salem in 2013 to join the Salem Academy faculty. In her current role at Salem, Betsy works with students on course selections, oversees the Jan Term program, and teaches in the English department. She and her husband have three children, and in her free time she enjoys reading, running, and cheering for the Tarheels.
