Anna Vance likes to say that her first love was calculus! She loves getting to share her passion for math with her students. She graduated from Wake Forest University with a BA in December 2010 and then with her Masters in Mathematics Education in August 2012. Go Deacs! She taught in the NC public school system for six years before coming to Salem Academy in Fall 2018. Since then she has taught a wide range of courses, from Algebra 1 to AP Statistics and everything in between. Anna Vance is also a cosponsor of the two Salem Academy Robotics teams, helping with social media, outreach, the team website, and engineering notebook. Additionally, she handles Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society) and Sophomore Class sponsorship.
Anna Vance is very active in online communities with other math teachers, where she connects with teachers across the globe to try and constantly improve her teaching. She enjoys presenting at and attending conferences. When she isn’t thinking about teaching math, she enjoys abstract painting and music. Sometimes you can even catch her singing with Academy students on the stage!
