Health & Counseling Services
“There are lots of different ways you’re taken care of at Salem.”
Michaela Murphy A’21
Salem Academy is fully invested in the holistic health of its students. Services for physical and emotional wellness are available on campus and in the local community. The services cited below are free to Academy students.
Salem’s Health Center is located on the adjacent campus of Salem College. A nurse is on site two days a week for four hours. Students will be escorted to the Health Center by Academy staff and/or Public Safety. If further treatment is needed, the nurse will refer students to a specialist off campus.
Self-Care is Key
Life can be stressful, so we urge students to take advantage of our counseling services. Our school counselor, Mary Margaret Johnson, MSW, LCSWA, offers confidential individual & group counseling.
Your Path to Lifelong Health
All students participate in our Pathways wellness program. This will give you the tools you need to build a healthy life — physically, emotionally, and socially. In addition to teaching self-awareness and healthy choices, the curriculum probes deeper issues like, “Who am I?”, “What are my passions?” and “How can I create change in the world?”
