Student Field Day

One of the great things about Salem being a boarding school is that there’s always someone around. As an underclassman, there was always a place for me to do my homework or hang out with while I was waiting for my dad to pick me up.”

Faith Harcus A’20

Whether you’re a day or boarding student, you’ll grow close to all members of the student body because of the shared experience that is Salem Academy.

Open Round the Clock

We understand that school doesn’t just take place between the hours of 8:00 am-3:30 pm. Most day students remain on campus into the evening and often return on weekends — for sports, play rehearsal, a study group, or just to have fun with friends.

Day students can arrive on campus as early as 6:30 am and stay as late as 10:00 pm. You can also arrange to stay on campus overnight. As a day student, you are welcome to participate in any boarding student activities including meals, planned excursions, and more. Like one big family, we feel the more the merrier!

Hosting a Friend

Day students know Winston-Salem and the surrounding community. As such, they play a big role in welcoming boarding students to their new home away from home. During school breaks, day students often invite an international student to stay with their family. Sharing your family traditions and the comforts of home will provide lasting memories for you both.
