The Salem Academy Learning Center

Salem’s Learning Center is located in the Ann Stone Hanes Library. It features a comfortable and confidential environment, along with a collaborative work space. Students visit the Center for support in:

  • Time management
  • Organization
  • Note taking
  • Study skills

Learning Specialist

Additionally, the Academy employs a learning specialist, Ms. JoAnn Caligiuri. She works to identify and support students in need of learning accommodations.

In particular, Mrs. Caligiuri

  • Develops formal plans to address students’ individual needs
  • Helps teachers identify struggling learners and implement accommodations
  • Serves as the point person for SAT and ACT special requests

Meet JoAnn Caligiuri, M.A., Learning Specialist


JoAnn Caligiuri joined Salem Academy as the learning specialist in August 2018. She has extensive experience helping students with learning differences and ADHD, having worked at a private school that exclusively served students with those diagnoses.

Mrs. Caligiuri believes that all students can benefit from help with organization, time management, study habits, and test taking skills. Her office is open to all students at Salem Academy for academic support. ​​​​
