  1. New, user-friendly website emphasizes interaction with the Academy and conveys the message that current and prospective students should “Believe in yourself. We do!”
  2. Academy StudentsBoarding-student numbers are up for fall 2009, and new incoming students hailed from 13 states and 6 different countries.
  3. Salem Academy seniors receive 138 acceptances to some of the country’s top colleges and universities and were awarded millions in merit aid.
  4. All six finalists from the annual Sisters Merit Scholarship Program – which covers room, board and tuition as well as special academic opportunities -- enroll at Salem Academy for 2009-2010.
  5. The New Parent eNewsletterParents of students as well as alumnae are connected with the Academy in new ways, from the creation of new e-newsletters designed just for them, to the formation of a DADS (discussion around daughters) group that meets regularly on campus.
  6. Fifty percent of last year's senior class earn at least one 5 on an AP Exam, and the average SAT scores for the past two senior classes are more than 50 points higher than the average for all NAIS (National Association of Independent Schools).
  7. January Term ProjectJanuary term 2009 sees Academy students undertaking internships around the world as well as participating in special classes on a wide variety of courses, both on and off campus.
  8. Enhancements to the student/advisor program mean that students now have structured weekly meetings with their advisors as well as many other opportunities for counseling, interaction and communication to improve their Academy experience.
  9. Salem celebrates completion of a record-breaking combined campaign for the Academy and College, which raises $76 million ($1 million over goal!) for the institution.
  10. Exchange Program With ChinaThe Academy establishes an exchange program for faculty and students with one of the top high schools in the Inner Mongolia region of China. Small groups of students and teachers will travel to and from these two schools to learn more about these two important cultures.
