It is with much anticipation and excitement that we are pleased to announce the sixth annual Fall Preseason for Salem Academy Athletics. This is an exciting time for the Salem Sabers as we continue striving for quality athletics at Salem. This year, preseason will be August 20 – 24.
Last year’s preseason was a tremendous success. It served as a time for bonding and getting to know members on the athletic teams. Examples of activities from last year included a Winston-Salem Dash minor league baseball game, movie night and pool party.
Preseason will serve as a time for basic instruction, review, conditioning and team bonding—which are all things that need to be done at the beginning of every sport season. By having an extra week to accomplish these things, each team will be ready to start practicing for games once school begins.
In order for preseason to be beneficial, all athletes expecting to play a fall sport MUST BE PRESENT for preseason.
ALL ATHLETES WILL BE LIVING IN THE DORMS and must have a current (2012) sports medical clearance form on file in the Dean’s Office.
Preseason will consist of two daily practices, team or group activities, and meals. Registration and move-in will be from 2 p.m.-4 p.m., Monday, August 20. We will kick off the week with a cookout and pool party on Bryant Hall Patio Monday night. Preseason will conclude on Friday, August 24 at 4:00 p.m.
The cost of preseason this year is $75.00, which includes three meals a day, lodging and fees for all evening activities. Please make checks payable to Salem Academy.
Please remember to bring all necessary clothing and equipment for practices. Students will also need a bathing suit and towel. If you are not a boarder, you will need to be sure to bring: swim suit, towels, bed sheets or sleeping bag, toiletries, alarm clock, and probably a fan.
* Please fill out and return this form to Lorie Howard no later than August 17.
