  • Salem Academy is home to 165 students. International students from countries including Spain, Korea, Moldova, Trinidad, Albania, Dominica, Turkey, Ghana, the Bahamas, and China make up nearly 24 percent of the student body.
  • The Class of 2016 had a 100 percent college acceptance rate and earned more than $3.4 million in scholarship offers. Recent graduates have enrolled at top colleges and universities, including Duke University; the University of Southern California; the University of California, Los Angeles; Pennsylvania State University; Washington University in St. Louis; UNC Chapel Hill; Williams College; NYU Tisch School of the Arts; and Salem College.
  • The average AP score in STEM-related exams (Biology, Calc AB, Calc BC, Chemistry, Statistics) for Salem Academy students in 2016 was 3.98 compared to 2.96 globally and 2.73 for students in North Carolina. Ninety-three percent of AP exams taken by Academy students in 2015 received a passing score of three (out of five) or higher; 63 percent earend scores of four or five; and 33 percent earned a perfect score of five.
  • Students have held January Term internships at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Biltmore Estate, NewBridge Bank, and the Center for Design Innovation in North Carolina; Oscar de la Renta in New York; and Doyle Dane Bernbach (DDB) Worldwide in China.
  • According to Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS) research findings in 2014, Salem Academy girls are twice as likely to recommend Salem Academy to prospective families than their counterparts at other SAIS member schools.
  • The average teaching tenure of faculty at the Academy is more than seventeen years, and 78 percent of the faculty hold advanced degrees.
  • A 2014 SAIS study found that Salem Academy students and parents ranked teacher effectiveness at the Academy well above the average of other SAIS member schools.
  • Salem Academy alumnae include a first lady of the United States, a Rhodes Scholar, an Emmy-award winner, one of the highest ranking females in the US House of Representatives, and a world-renowned mathematician.
